Valley Of Flowers Trek Overview

Considered by many as one of the most beautiful places in India, the Valley of Flowers tucked into the hills of the Garhwal Himalayas is a nature lover’s dream come true. During the months of July and August, innumerable flowers of various shapes, sizes and hues adorn the valley creating a veritable multi-colored carpet. The valley is home to over 300 Colorful species including Morinas, Himalayan Blue Poppy, Brahma Kamal, Potentilla, Aster, Lilies etc.

British mountaineer Frank Smythe stumbled upon the Valley of Flowers in 1931. ‘In all my mountain wandering,’ he wrote, ‘I have not seen a more beautiful valley where the human spirit may find repose’. It’s in the core zone of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. A colossal expanse of 87.5 sq kms and myriad alpine flowers makes this place a colorful paradise. Perched at an altitude of 12070 feet above sea level, Bhyundar Valley is the home to this surreal place.

It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

ITINERARY (Rishikesh - Rishikesh)

DAY 01Rishikesh to Joshimath (253 Kilometers, 8 Hours Drive)

  • The group will assemble at the pick-up point by 8 AM.
  • The trek leader will be introduced here followed by a group introduction and tour briefing.
  • Later on, we’ll head towards Joshimath.
  • Midway, we’ll cross DevprayagSrinagarRudraprayagChamoliand Panch Prayag.
  • We’ll be reaching Joshimath by the evening.
  • Post-check-in, dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Joshimath.

 

The pickup point is Rishikesh ISBT (tentative).

DAY 02Joshimath to Pulna Drive (22 Kilometers) | Ghangaria Trek (09 Kilometers)

  • Post breakfast, we’ll head out for Pulna village.
  • Upon reaching our destination, we’ll start trekking towards the first checkpoint, Ghangaria Village.
  • We’ll reach Ghangaria Village by the afternoon.
  • Lunch will be served after checking into our accommodation.
  • Dinner will be served in the evening followed by an overnight stay in Ghangaria Village.

DAY 03Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers Trek and back (10 Kilometers)

  • After an early breakfast, we’ll head out for a Forest Check Post.
  • Midway, we’ll have a packed lunch during one of the break sessions.
  • On reaching Forest Check Post, we’ll move towards Valley of Flowers, which is the main attraction of the whole trek.
  • After a while, we’ll trek down from Valley of Flowers to Ghangaria village.
  • Dinner will be served in the evening followed by an overnight stay in Ghangaria Village.

Day 3Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib Trek and back (14 Kilometers)

  • Breakfast will be served in the morning.
  • After which, we’ll head out for a trek to Hemkund Sahib(World’s Highest Gurudwara).
  • Midway, we’ll be having a packed lunch during one of the breaks.
  • We’ll reach our destination by the afternoon and will stay for a while before trekking back to Ghangaria Village.
  • Dinner will be served in the evening followed by an overnight stay in Ghangaria Village.

DAY 05Ghangaria to Pulna (09 Kilometers) | Drive Joshimath (22 Kilometers)

  • After an early breakfast, we’ll head towards Pulna village.
  • Upon reaching Pulna, change for Joshimath, which will be our next destination.
  • Upon reaching our destination in the evening, dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Joshimath.

DAY 06Joshimath to Rishikesh (253 Kilometers, 08 Hours Drive)

  • Post breakfast, we’ll head out for Rishikesh.
  • We’ll reach Rishikesh by the evening.
  • The group disassembles here.
  • The Valley of Flowers Trek ends here.

INCLUSIONS

  • Transportation during the journey from the pickup on day 01 to drop on day 06 is covered.
  • Accommodations on sharing basis as per itinerary (Triple /Quad Occupancy).
  • Meal Plan: All vegetarian meals from Day 1 Dinner to Day 6 Breakfast

Cancellation Policy

  • No cancellations will be taken over call or whatsApp msg. Please reply in email with payment receipt that you have received at the time of booking.
  • No Show . No refund.
  • If remaining payment is not received 7 days before  the event start date, Your slot is assumed to be cancelled. 
  • Incase of government orders, harsh weather conditions , protests , landslides or any other unforeseen circumstances , we work out the best possible alternate plans or trips/treks. At times even certain activities are cancelled , the organisation provides the best alternate but no refunds are provided.
  • If a trek is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc.), Offbeat Compass will issue a trek voucher for the full amount and if possible will provide an alternate trek. The voucher can be redeemed upto same amount for the same trek or another trek in the next 365 days from the trek departure date.
  • If a trek or trip cannot be completed due to natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc.). No refund would be provided.
  • Any extra expense coming due to any natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh, Train Cancellations etc.), Will be beared by customer. Offbeat Compass will not be liable.

REFUND POLICY

  • Initial Payment is NON transferable and NON Refundable
  • If you cancel your trip 7 days before the event start date – Trek Voucher worth 80% of the Remaining Payment Component would be given.
  • If you cancel your trip Between 7 to 3 days of the event Start date – Trek Voucher worth 50% of the Remaining Payment Component would be given.
  • If you cancel your trip Between 2 days to 0 days – No Voucher or refund would be given.

Best time to visit Valley Of Flowers?

The seasonal bloom in the national park area begins as early as June. Some flowers remain as late as the end of September. So it spans over a period of 16 weeks or so when you will get to see some flowers.

However you will get more species variety and flowering as the monsoon sets in properly. As in this area, monsoon sets during early July and extends till late of August. In this way it is good to visit Valley Of Flowers anytime in July or August. Even if you visit during early September, you will get a green valley and some flowers.

How difficult is the Valley of Flowers trek?

This trek comes under the easy to moderate category. The trail in the valley is fairly easy and plain. Especially during the autumn because of the meadows and flowers, you don’t face any problems while trekking through.

The only part where you might feel exhausted or face difficulty is when you climb the Hemkund Sahib trail. The sudden change in altitude from 9,500 ft to 15,200 ft is due to the steep trail. But what’s best is that the trail is complemented by enormous views of the entire valley of flowers (Phoolo ki Ghati) and the great Himalayas.

As far as overall difficulty is concerned, this trek is also accessible to kids above 5 years of age to elders up to 60 years of age.

Where are you going to stay?

The only thing you will miss out on this trek is the thrilling camping experience. But guess what, to give you the exceptional experience possible, we have sorted a few of the best guest houses in the valley.

On all days, you will be allotted rooms on a sharing basis in the reserved guesthouse. Once you are there with us, you don’t have to worry about your stay and food. One of the added perks of the guesthouses in the attached washroom facilities which you miss in the camp stays.

I am solo traveller,Can i join?

yes, you certainly can join. We often get many solo trekker/traveler on our trips and definitely you will find some likeminded people on the trip. Our objective is that we complete the trek/travel as a team. So, we always motivate people to come together and help each other.

How and when will your team coordinate with me?

We make a WhatsApp group of all the participants, besides, two days before the event and share all the necessary details in it.

When will I get trip/trek details?

Usually, An heads-up email with trip details such as things to carry, contact details of Trek Leaders, meeting details and the Do’s & don’ts will be communicated via both Email/WhatsApp within 3 days prior to the trip.

Are smoking and drinking allowed?

No, Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited.
