Spiti Valley, literally meaning the land between the magnificent India & majestical Tibet. This place is the epitome of magic. From beautiful landscape to a rich culture heritage- there is nothing you cannot find here! Seperated from Lahaul Valley by the soaring Kunzum La at 4551m, Spiti valley is a must visit destination in the months of October, November & December.
 

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India. Winters in Spiti are extremely harsh and temperatures sometimes drop to as low as -20º Celsius. Winters here are frigid and there is no running water in taps. All that Spiti has in winters is the never-ending adventure and a white blanket of snow!  

Known for its rugged terrain, a trip during Winter gets a lot trickier. During this journey we cover regions in Kinnaur Valley, visit the famous Kalpa town and several known places of Spiti Valley, like Kaza, Kee , Kibber, Langza.

ITINERARY

DAY 00 : DEC'28th Departure From Delhi To Shimla.

  • Leave from Delhi by night and reach Shimla the next morning. ( At your own expense, we book the bus at extra cost )

DAY 01 : DEC'29thReach Shimla- Transfer To Kalpa Overnight Stay At Kalpa.

  • Breakfast and freshen up.
  • Drive through Kufri, Narkanda along the Indo-Tibetan highway on the way to Kalpa
  • Reach Kalpa by evening.
  • Dinner and Overnight sleep.

DAY 02 : DEC'30thTransfer From Kalpa To Kaza Via Nako - Tabo - Ka Loops. Overnight Stay At Tabo.

  • Wake up early morning & after breakfast start your journey to Spiti Valley.
  • Cross the Ka loops en route Tabo.
  • Enter Spiti valley through Sumdo Border. Visit Nako village en route Tabo.
  • Reach Tabo by evening & Visit the Oldest Monastery in Spiti Valley i.e. Tabo Monastery.
  • Check-in to the homestay.: Dinner & sleep overnight.

DAY 03 : DEC'31stVisit Dhankar Monastery & Pin Valley - Overnight Stay At Kaza.

  • Wake up early morning and after having the breakfast, head for Dhankar Village.
  • Visit Dhankar Monstery which offers a spectacular view of confluence of Spiti and Pin river.
  • Afterwards, enjoy the scenic drive to Pin Valley
  • Visit the Tailing hanging bridge and drive further to Mudh Village
  • Come back to Kaza by evening.
  • Dinner and sleep overnight.

DAY 04 : JAN'01stVisit Key Monastery, Chicham Bridge, Hikkim, Komik & Langza - Overnight Stay At Kaza.

  • Wake up early morning and after having the breakfast, head for Spiti valley sightseeing.
  • Visit the most scenic monastery of Spiti Valley – The Key Monastery.
  • Further, drive to the highest suspension bridge in Asia – The Chicham Bridge.
  • Visit the iconic villages of Spiti – Hikkim(location of the World’s Highest Post Office), Komik(the highest village in the world connected through a motorable road) & Langza(the site for the holy Buddha Statue)
  • Come back to Kaza by evening. Dinner and sleep overnight.

DAY 05 : JAN'02ndDeparture To Kalpa. Overnight Stay At Kalpa.

  • Wake up early morning and after breakfast check-out of the hotel.
  • Depart for the Kalpa.
  • Reach Kalpa by night
  • Check-in to the hotel.
  • Dinner and Overnight rest.

DAY 06 : JAN'03rd Drive To The Last Indian Village - Chitkul

  • After having breakfast and some leisure, check-out of the hotel.
  • Make a visit to the famous Cliff Point of Kalpa at Roghi village
  • Depart for Chitkul, the last Indian village towards China border and experience another white wonderland.
  • Dinner & overnight in a hotel at Chitkul.

DAY 07 : JAN'04thDepart To Shimla. Overnight Transfer To Delhi.

  • Wake up early morning and after breakfast depart for Shimla.
  • Reach Shimla by evening.
  • Depart for Delhi. ( At your own expense )

DAY 08 : JAN'06thReach Delhi By Morning.

  • Reach Delhi morning around 10:00 AM . Book your flights after 2 PM.

  • Airfare, Train Fare, Insurance Premium etc.
  • Anything not mentioned in the inclusions.
  • Cost for services which is not mentioned in “Inclusions”
  • Cost of additional activities other than what is included, Porterages, tips etc.
  • Cost of amendment/addition in the itinerary.
  • Any additional cost incurred due to changes in Government Guidelines related to travel/trek/COVID-19 will be borne by the travellers
  • Additional Costs due to Flight Cancellations, Landslides, Roadblocks, and other natural calamities.

Cancellation Policy

  • No cancellations will be taken over call or whatsApp msg. Please reply in email with payment receipt that you have received at the time of booking.
  • No Show . No refund.
  • If remaining payment is not received 7 days before  the event start date, Your slot is assumed to be cancelled. 
  • Incase of government orders, harsh weather conditions , protests , landslides or any other unforeseen circumstances , we work out the best possible alternate plans or trips/treks. At times even certain activities are cancelled , the organisation provides the best alternate but no refunds are provided.
  • If a trek is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc.), Offbeat Compass will issue a trek voucher for the full amount and if possible will provide an alternate trek. The voucher can be redeemed upto same amount for the same trek or another trek in the next 365 days from the trek departure date.
  • If a trek or trip cannot be completed due to natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc.). No refund would be provided.
  • Any extra expense coming due to any natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh, Train Cancellations etc.), Will be beared by customer. Offbeat Compass will not be liable.

REFUND POLICY

  • 30 days or more prior to the departure date: 90% of the total package fee refundable
  • Between 21-30 days prior to the departure date: 60% of the total package fee refundable
  • Between 20-11 days prior to the departure date: 30% of the total package fee refundable
  • Less than 10 days prior to the departure date: No refund
  • No show: No refund
  • No refund will be made if a participant is unable to complete the tour/trek/adventure activity owing to medical conditions or any other reasons, after starting the tour/trek/adventure activity

Yes. There will be heavy snowfall in Spiti Valley during the Spiti Winter Expedition. January, February, and March are called the extreme winter months in Spiti when there is a heavy blanket of white snow all around you.

How many days are enough for Spiti Winter Road Trip via Shimla?

There are no hard and fast rules for this. It really depends on what you want to do and see while you’re there. However, we recommend at least 7-8 days so that you can explore the valley and its surrounding areas like Pin Valley, Langza, Hikkim, Komic, Ki, and Kibber Villages around Kaza.

Is there any Mobile network Available during Spiti Winter Expedition?

There is a mobile network available in Spiti valley but it is very limited. In most places, you won’t get any mobile network at all. In some places, you will get only BSNL or MTNL networks. Even in places where you get a mobile network, it is mostly 3G only. There are very few places where you will get a 4G network. So, you should not be expecting any kind of mobile network during the Spiti winter expedition. You will be cut off from the rest of the world for the entire duration of the expedition.

Group Size?

  • 5 to 17 Members 
  • We require a minimum of 5 participant to confirm the event 
  • If in case, we fail to obtain the required minimum number of participants. We would initiate full refund or transfer to another event for the same departure date. (Option of transfer shall be subject to payment/refund of balance amount if any) 

What will be the kind of Stay ?

  • We will be staying in Homestay’s most of the time, It will be 3 sharing basis.
